    Financial Aid Analyst (R2T4)

    Office of Financial Aid

    Exempt, Regular, Full-Time, Pay Grade 1.2

    University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks a Financial Aid Accountant in the Office of Financial Aid. Reporting to the Assistant Director, R2T4, the Financial Aid Accountant specializes in the Return of Title IV funds to assess student enrollment and determine if any financial aid adjustments are required. This position will evaluate financial aid applicants and determine if awards need to be adjusted in accordance with state, federal, and institutional policies governing financial aid. Occasional travel between local UMUC locations may be required.

    * This is an entry level position *

    Must be able to meet and maintain access requirements for secure federal and/or state websites, such as the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS). Individuals cannot currently be in default on a student loan.


    • Review complex enrollment scenarios to determine if a Return to Title IV Funds calculation, post withdrawal disbursement or loss of financial aid eligibility is required, and use strategic and independent judgment to perform R2T4 calculations within the federally mandated timeframes.
    • Create computerized reports, merge and evaluate data from multiple sources, change award amounts, maintain statistical data, and generate communications to students.
    • Counsel and advise students, parents, and UMUC staff on the impact of changes in enrollment, financial aid eligibility and balances due to the university.
    • Maintain current knowledge of federal Title IV regulations, state rules and institutional policies pertaining to financial aid and identify ongoing improvements/automation for the R2T4 process. 
    • Develop R2T4 models for each semester.
    • Other job-related duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning plus four (4) years of professional experience in higher education, banking, accounting, business or customer service. 
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; demonstrated experience with computerized office systems including but not limited to; Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  
    • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple administrative tasks with minimal oversight and  experience providing customer service in a timely and proficient manner.


    • Financial aid experience and functional experience with PeopleSoft and/or Salesforce are preferred.

    Training and Outreach Coordinator

    Office of Financial Aid

    Exempt, Regular, 100%-Time, Pay Grade 1.2

    University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks a Training and Outreach Coordinator who provide training to staff members in the Office of Financial Aid as well as staff members throughout the University in student-facing roles. The coordinator will work with financial aid staff members to identify large-scale student issues, resolve problems, and provide strategies for strengthening student service. Working closely with the Assistant Director of Training and Outreach as well as the leadership of all FA units, the coordinator will assist in identifying areas for increased efficiency and training opportunities .


    • Develop and deliver financial aid training programs and to increase service levels. (25%)
    • Deliver monthly training sessions with front line staff to address pressing issues and content related updates. (15%)
    • Serve as a liaison with UMUC regional offices including, but not limited to creating training materials and presentations, as well as attending information sessions and open houses as content knowledge expert. (20%)
    •  Utilize Salesforce to analyze complex financial aid processing issues and identify methods to increase efficiency and visibility to determine training needs. (15%)
    •  Coordinate efforts with staff members to identify large-scale student issues, resolve problems, and provide strategies for strengthening student service. (10%)
    •  Maintain current knowledge of Federal Title IV regulations pertaining to financial aid (10%)
    •  Perform other job related duties as assigned (5%)


    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning ​and one (1) to two (2) years of experience in the field of financial aid or student services.​
    • Financial aid experience in a higher education, working with both traditional and non-traditional populations.
    • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.

    Assistant Director of Merit Scholarships

    UMBC, Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships

    Full-Time, Exempt, Regular

    Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

    Reporting to the Associate Director of Scholarships, the incumbent will assist with the maintenance of the university’s scholarship programs, including general merit, athletic and scholars programs. Two years higher education experience in admissions, enrollment management or financial aid is preferred. 

    Specific duties and responsibilities include:

    • Maintaining the scholarship management system, administering athletic scholarship requests and awards;
    • Representing the department at recruitment events;
    • Assisting with marketing and communication efforts, delivering presentations to prospective students and families;
    • Coordinating Scholar Visit Days and Scholar Selection Day and performing other duties as assigned.

    Requires a Bachelor’s degree, two years of progressive higher education experience and one year of supervisory experience. 

    • Strong technological skills and expert knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Exceptional interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge and experience with data management systems.
    • Prior experience in public speaking and presenting to large and small groups required.
