Posting Title - Communications Coordinator

Overview - The Office of Student Financial Assistance is responsible for the administration of Federal Title IV aid, University funds, state and private aid over $156 million annually, in accordance to all federal, state and institutional policies and regulations. Our main focus is improving the student experience through engagement by providing excellent customer service. Counseling prospects on the value an education at Catholic University offers and by adhering to this tenet, we are supporting the university's recruitment and retention goals.

This position is mission driven. The Coordinator is often the first point of contact for students and parents inquiry about eligibility, application process, financial aid programs, and net price.  Excellent verbal and written communications will be considered the highest priority in this incumbent.

This person will be responsible for the creation, evaluation and maintenance of an effective communication plan, insuring accuracy, quality and compliance with all federal, state and university policies and regulations.  Additional duties include;

Coordinates timely communication of calls, emails and requests for appointments in person or virtual.

Maintains our website, forms bank and messaging will fall under this positions purview.  

Implement an outreach plan with internal and external constituents. 

Implement a communication plan to support retention efforts.

Assist with data entry, report statistics on financial aid activities and monitor student status.

Assist Appeals committee with personalized responses.

Train work study students

Qualifications

Minimum Qualification for Communications Coordinator:

Bachelor's degree and a minimum one (1) year experience in a higher education setting including student employment, work study or internship experience, preferably in financial aid, bursars, college admissions or other student centered office preferred.  In lieu of Bachelor's degree, a high school diploma/G.E.D equivalent and 3 years financial aid experience is preferred.

Technical Skills:

Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Adobe Pro and html editing language is preferred.  Knowledge of Title IV reulations, understanding of federal needs analysis.  Experience using PeopleSoft or similar student information system is preferred.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Needed:

Public Speaking, customer service and ability to manage multiple priorities while  guaranteeing excellent service.

Think critically beyond the question asked - anticipating the next step and communicating effectively.

Flexible, motivated and proactive.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to work evenings and weekends on occasion
