COVID-19: CONNECTING ACROSS THE DISTANCE

Hello Tri-State,

We hope this message finds you well. COVID-19 (coronavirus) has forced us all to make drastic changes in a short period of time. Although, we are in different locations dealing with different degrees of exposure we are all doing our best to deal. Whether you are feeling like a teleworking pro or still fumbling with passwords, you are not alone!

We created this page to share resources for the Tri-State community including opportunities for members to connect in this new era of social distancing. Flattening the curve requires us to work apart, failing to connect will make us grow apart. Let's grow together instead.

For now, our goal is to provide resources in four areas:

  • Opportunities to Connect with the Tri-State Community
  • Resources for Personal Wellness and Professional Development
  • Financial Aid Resources from the Government
  • National and Regional Association News

The resources on this page will be updated regularly. We will refer to many external links for content. Sharing does not equal endorsement. If you have resources to share, please send them to dedcmdasfaa at gmail.com.

In the meantime, be well and please stay connected.

Sincerely,
Tri-State 2019-2020 Executive Board

    Our Response to COVID-19

    Sallie Mae

    • Customers facing financial difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic may request and receive disaster forbearance, which allows them to suspend payments for 90 days.
    • In addition to speaking with a customer service representative, customers looking to request a forbearance or make payments can now do so in two new ways:
        • The Interactive Voice Response feature on our toll-free customer service line now has an option for customers to request a forbearance or make a payment over the phone any time of day. Previously, customers could only make a payment over the phone by speaking with a customer service rep during regular hours of operation.
        • Our chat function on SallieMae.com can now process forbearance requests and take ACH payments from customers. Previously, we answered questions via chat but did not have the ability to accept payments.
